Her gaze is forward and the dog is looking up to the shepherd. A romantic message is written like a secret message or thought on the tree. It reads Je pense a nous, j y songe sans cesse – I think about us, I think about us endlessly. Most likely a painting from a trumeau mirror. It is nearly square.

Condition and wear consistent with age and use.
